16 days and counting!

Let the countdown begin! I have a little over two weeks til the lovely ladies at the top of my blog will be playing in DC and NYC together. Any and all tips for places to go and things to do while in either DC or NYC will be happily accepted. We will be spending a few days in each city. I'm just excited for a girls weekend with the 4 of us!

This past weekend I made another road trip. This time I went to see Amy Farnsworth in Starkville, MS. I've been saying nothing good comes out of Mississippi and my only recollection of MSU was that of a ghetto.
Starkville is actually pretty nice. It is a smaller town than Auburn but lots of fun places to eat. I had a great time hanging out with Amy and her roommate. I always love a low key weekend with Amy! Thanks for being such a great host Amy!

(Thanks for letting me be a picture stealer Amy!!)

OH and if someone wants to win the lottery between now and August and wants to split the winnings with me-I would GLADLY take it. We will just call it the MMA Education Fund!

Wear Myself Out!

This weekend has been busy! Friday night was lots of friends and family. I love that everyone has come home for parts of their spring break so that I can see them! Thanks Katie O for hanging out with me!

Saturday was work day. Below are before and after pictures of Meemaw's part. The first picture shows what was hiding under the wallpaper (lots of wine labels). We gave away Meemaw's stove so we had a hole that we needed to fill.

First, the paint job was $2.00! We used 2 different Oops quarts from Home Depot and mixed them together. At $1.00 a piece you can't beat it! All of the knick-knacks on we used to decorate we already had in the house. The mini fridge was left over from freshman year in the dorm. Hope you like our DIY job and for a pretty good price!

Also, this afternoon Dad, Daniel and I expanded a bed in the backyard. And I made a new banana muffin recipe. They turned out really good. I love All Recipes for the reviews and edits that people make to the recipes. It helps when trying something new.

And for those of you who are into March Madness. This is my first go round. I'm hanging in there with my bracket.

Plotting life

Working with a bunch of engineers I have found that everything in life can be charted or plotted on a graph. The desire or joy you have every day at work, your productivity, your health or even how much you enjoy bacon. Every few days the guys in the office have a new diagram for life.

Apparently I don't fit in to this lifestyle! I have never thought about plotting my life on a graph!

On a different (similar) note...for the first time this past week I watched The Office and actually thought it was hysterical. I am living out the office every day apparently.

I believe in Auburn and love it!

This weekend was a wonderful relaxing weekend in the Loveliest Village! I took a mini vacation to Auburn just to get away. Didn't take any pictures because...well I didn't do anything. So instead I have some older pictures to spice it up a little bit.
Amy, I did drive by Samford for you. Actually I did a mini campus tour just driving around town to check it all out. The new residence halls look great!

(I do have a few more pictures to add, I just didn't have time.)

Doug and I had pizza Friday night before he left for spring break. Always good for a little family bonding.
Friday night was also movie night with Laura. It was great to see her and catch up a little bit in person.

Saturday and Sunday Allison and I had the best time doing nothing. A little bit of wine and a good friend goes a long way!

Even if it was on the phone, I got to talk to Amy and Joy! Amy it seems like not that long ago we were celebrating our own St. Paddy's day and enjoying wine on the balcony together!

Really not much went on this weekend other than a little reading, moving watching and enjoying the best place ever, Auburn!

Grad school update: Still got nothing. I'll keep you posted when I hear something. Mid-march is hear so we should know something SOON!

Foodie

This weekend ran I feel like i did everything-completely relax and be so completely busy!

Friday night was pizza and a movie with Jess and
Ben.
It was a wonderful night in sweats on the couch to just relax and be with friends.

Saturday I still did some lounging and baked some sugar cookies to take to a fondue party! They were good but maybe a little too much trouble for all the DOZENS I ended up making.

Saturday night the fondue party was a lot of fun
. We had a beer cheese fondue except we used all cheddar cheese-really tasty! As with any party we had way too much food left over.

I loved having the house to myself for the weekend while the Martins, Wares and Abernathys were in Auburn.
I'm now thinking about a mini vacation to Auburn this weekend!

GRAD SCHOOL UPDATE: Still an alternate for OSU. I should hear something from Covenant by the end of the week.

Meet me in St. Louie

I didn't go to the fair but I did have a great weekend! This road trip weekend was to visit Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis. (Pics: Library and Edwards Hall)

I met with students, faculty, and staff ALL day Friday (8-5). I went to 2 different classes while at Covenant: Crisis and Transition and Cross Cultural Communication. It is so weird to be back in a classroom again but I'm ready!

I didn't realize I knew as many people up there as I did and all through Random connections!

My interview on campus lasted an hour. I actually really enjoyed it. More than anything we just talked about my interests, life experiences, and the program. I told Dr. Zink what I was looking for in the program and he said that I would be able to find it.
The internships at Covenant are a 60/40 split. 60% working in a Christian environment/40% in a secular. I'm hoping to be in the 40% so I can work on a college campus. The great thing about St. Louis is there are about 10 college campuses in the area! Prime location for me!

Oh and while at Covenant I got a "campus tour". For any of you former CWEs this was a sheer joke in comparison! You can stand in the middle of Covenant's campus and point to their 5 buildings. My poor tour guide was new-she gave me the wrong name of a building. Oh well, she just wasn't as well trained as some of us! (Pics: Student Center and Founder's Hall:classrooms)

While in St. Louis I also had my first trip to Trader Joe's. I loved it. If we had one in Huntsville I would definitely shop there. So those of you in Nashville/ATL will have to enjoy it for me. They have really good $3 bottles of wine. There food is also natural without preservatives which I like!

A big Thank You! to Katie Traylor for letting me stay in their cute apartment and showing me around town/campus.

I also stayed one night with the Hackman's. Always an adventure with Kim, Trevor and the kids! I loved having a day to hang out with them. Our goal was to get frozen custard while we were in town, but we were denied! Ted Drewe's is closed until May so we just settled with good ole' Coldstone.

Oh and don't forget the snow on the way home (this is in Tennessee).

Interview Wrap Up:
OSU told me I am a "Top Alternate" for their program. I'll let you know when I hear more.
I will hear Mid-March from Covenant!
